Diamond wire saws

The diamond wire saws DS750 NC and DS750 NC4 are ideal for sawing contours and conic contours.

Advantages of cutting with wire at a glance

  • The looped wire separates in any direction. Consequently it is ideal for sawing contours:
  • Due to the additional U- and V- rotation axes cuts can be sawn with a diagonal of up to ± 5°.
  • Little energy needed for the work so that little heating occurs and low tension is sufficient for securing the object.
  • Very narrow cut, so that there is little waste and sawdust.
  • The wire never jams but cuts itself free.
  • Due to the multiple curvature of the wire, each time it is used it cleans itself better than rigid tools can do.
  • The tightly guided diamond sawing wire makes precise cuts possible no material is broken out, so that it is good for fragile materials.

Diamond wire saws functional characteristics

The item to be cut can be processed on two or four axes with any interpolation. The diamond saw wire is driven by a rotary current motor controlled by a frequency transformer. The speed of the diamond sawing wire can be set at any point between 0 and 3000 m/min.

 

To insert the diamond saw wire and draw it tight, the drive motor and the drive roller are moved with a pneumatic cylinder. The tension on the wire is set by the adjustable air pressure on the pressure reducer.

 

The process of programming the contour for the item to be cut according to external CAD programs is supported by such features as automatic item radius correction, automatic closure of the contour and the graphic display and process simulation. Precision in following the contour is ensured by ball transfer shafts, which achieve an optimum result in cooperation with the automatic delay in movement when radiuses are being processed.

 

The dust is sucked away directly under the point of work. The sawdust is pulled down by the diamond saw wire and then sucked directly off.

Cutting wire

 

The cutting diamond saw wires are 1870 mm long and 0.7 to 1.2 mm thick. It is formed as an endless, secure loop with diamonds of grain-sizes 76 – 181 µm. Precise movement of the diamond saw wires is ensured because the flexible wire permits the use of small guiding rollers directly at the point to be worked.

 

The choice of diamond saw wires depends on the material to be cut and the required quality of the cut. Consequently, it is possible to take into account the requirements for the best possible surface quality, a narrow cut gap or fast movement.
